Welcome to German International School Boston
German Foundations. Global Horizons.
Thank you for your interest in our vibrant and unique school community!
As you explore our website, I hope you get a glimpse of what makes GISB so special: a fully bilingual learning environment from preschool through grade 12, a diverse and inclusive international community that brings together families from more than 40 countries, and a school culture that values curiosity, compassion, and critical thinking. We educate global citizens who are culturally aware, socially confident, and academically well prepared for the future.
Our students graduate with both the German International Abitur and a U.S. High School Diploma. This powerful combination opens doors to top universities in the United States, Germany, and around the world. We follow a rigorous and holistic curriculum with a strong emphasis on STEM, language learning, and intercultural competence. In addition to German and English, students can choose French or Spanish as a third language. Our intentionally small class sizes create space for individual growth, meaningful relationships, and a culture of trust and high expectations.
As a certified Exzellente Deutsche Auslandsschule (Excellent German school abroad), we are proud to be part of a global network of German schools, offering rich exchange opportunities, interdisciplinary projects, and a strong connection to German culture, language, and innovation.
As the Head of School, I am honored to lead this extraordinary community. I bring with me a strong belief in the power of international education, a passion for bilingual learning, and a deep commitment to helping each student thrive in their own way. School years shape us — and at GISB, we take that responsibility to heart by nurturing imagination, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. I hope you will visit us in person to experience the energy, warmth, and strong culture of learning that define our school.
With warmest regards,
Philipp Kraft
Head of School
