Andrew Baker | Fast Track Teacher

This is my second year at GISB. I teach 4th and 5th grade Fast Track, German AP for the high school, and American Cultures for the international students. I used to teach German 3, 4, and AP at a public school in the Philly area.

Best part of your job:

I knew I could never work at a desk job – I love to interact with others and cooperate with students and teachers, all while using what I’ve learned in my own education to enjoy the creativity and levity of working with young people.

Favorite GISB tradition:

My favorite tradition is the Christkindlmarkt. It is such a huge event and shows what the GISB community can do when we all work together. Also, the Glühwein doesn’t hurt.

I love watching and playing all kinds of sports, especially hockey and soccer. I enjoy reading and am part of a book club at the Goethe Institut. Travel is a huge passion of mine, and I love exploring places that are totally new.

At GISB since:

“The best part of GISB is the community; I worked before at a school with 3,300 students, and I love the chance to get to know so many of the people I see every day!”
