Photo Gallery: GISB celebrates its 20th Anniversary

On Saturday, June 25, the GISB community came together to celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary. The sunny and warm afternoon was filled with birthday cheer, student performances, art, music, good company, delicious food, kids’ activities, and German Gemütlichkeit!

During the event, Head of School Holger Wirtz and Board Chair Ulrike Bagehorn reminded the community of the school’s humble beginnings and how much the school has grown, not only in size but also in terms of programs it is offering today. In her speech, German Consul General Nicole Menzenbach congratulated GISB on 20 years of German education in the Boston area and praised the school for “…being a cultural beacon that educates bilingual ambassadors for both countries [Germany and the United States].”

Between the many student performances, Holger Wirtz and Ulrike Bagehorn also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the community members that have been with GISB since the beginning: The Eliseev family, whose children have attended GISB since 2001, and Music & History Teacher Uta Fuchs who taught at GISB since the early days in Cambridge.

Before and after the official program, there was plenty of time to mingle, meet old and new friends, visit the terrific student art show, enjoy champagne and cake, and end the afternoon with a hearty dinner, music, and dance.

Thank you for celebrating with us!
