Bundesjugendspiele 2023

June 15, 2023 (rain date: June 23, 2023)

Since the early 1950s, German schools at home and abroad have organized an annual day of athletic competition. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, June 15, during regular school hours at the McCurdy Outdoor Track at Harvard Stadium. The schoolwide event is organized by GISB’s Athletics Department and supported by the Parent Association. Please note that in case of inclement weather, the event will take place on Friday, June 23.

All students in grades 1-10 will compete on that day in four events: a sprint, an endurance run, long jump, and throwing. There will be age-appropriate activity stations for Lower Campus students. Grade 11 and other high school students who are not able to actively participate will support the event as judges and helpers, together with parent volunteers and teachers. There will be snacks: watermelon, oranges, cereal bars, and water to refill at the field. The school nurse will also be present.

Starting at 2:00 pm, all parents and helpers are also invited to join the BBQ. We are still looking for volunteers to help with the event. Please lend us your helping hands and sign up here to volunteer!
