After-School Programs

German International School Boston offers a daily after-school program for students in preschool to grade 8.

Students in grade 1 and up can choose from a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Students can choose from taekwondo, chess club, private music lessons, and much more.

Lower Campus After-School Program

Students in Preschool and Kindergarten have the option to stay and play and be creative daily until 6:00 pm. We offer flexible programs with pick-up times at 4:00, 5:00, or 6:00 pm. The after-school period is a non-academic time for fun free-play and social-skill building. Our after-school teachers also offer structured activities, such as cooking and craft projects, reading time, and more.

Upper Campus After-School Program

GISB offers a daily after school program until 6:00 pm for students in grades 1 – 8.  The after school program includes homework supervision, extracurricular classes like taekwondo or science, music lessons, and the regular after school program, which includes active outdoor play, crafts, cooking, and supervised social time for middle-schoolers.

Homework supervision takes place daily from 2:10 to 3:00 pm for students in Grades 1 – 4 and from 3:00 to 4:00 pm for students in Grades 3 – 6. Students are supervised and supported by GISB teachers. Students can be signed up for one or more days.

We offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities for students in grades 1 to 12. In addition, we offer after-school clubs for middle and high school students. At the start of each semester, a detailed overview of offered classes including schedules and fees is sent out to families.

We also offer private piano, guitar voice, violin, cello, and recorder lessons. Please contact our after school program music teachers directly for more information and availability.

The regular after school program is offered daily from 2:10 pm – 6:00 pm and is open for students in grades 1 – 6. Our goal is to offer a fun, safe, and enriching afternoon in a supportive and bilingual environment. Activities like outdoor play, crafts, cooking projects, games, and supervised social time for middle schoolers or unstructured classroom exploration for elementary school students make this a fun time to be creative and spend time with friends. All our after school teachers speak both English and German.

Students in grades 7 and 8 may remain in their classrooms in the afternoon to socialize and do homework. After school program teachers will take attendance and check on students. Students are of course also invited and encouraged to participate in the regular after school program.
